Hi! I’m Shayla Scaggs-Smith— a photographer, a storyteller, and a lifelong fan of capturing moments that matter. Before I picked up my camera full-time, I spent eight years working in hospice, five of those in administration. That experience taught me the power of presence, care, and truly valuing the time we have with the people we love. It also gave me a deep appreciation for milestones and memories— and that’s exactly what I aim to capture through my photography.

Photography started as a hobby back in high school when my nephew was born. From there, I joined the yearbook team and was always the one with a camera at parties, games, and family gatherings. I realized early on that I love freezing moments in time— the laughter, the personalities, the little details that make each story unique.

Today, I focus on high school seniors and seasonal mini sessions because they allow me to combine creativity with connection. I love helping seniors express their unique personalities, capturing who they are right now in ways that feel genuine and fun. And for families, my goal is always to create a relaxed, joyful atmosphere so you can simply enjoy your session while I capture memories that will last a lifetime.

When I’m not behind the camera, you can find me exploring peaceful corners of my hometown, testing new photography ideas, or spending quality time with my family. I believe photography should feel personal, comfortable, and effortless— and that every session is a chance to create something timeless.
